At the heart of Heading North Mastering's system is the Sadie 6 DAW. Sadie has long been considered the most accurate audio editing tool available and features full PQ Editing and a suite of tools specifically designed for the mastering engineer.

Other highlights of Heading North’s mastering suite are the two unique analog mastering channels. The Solid State Channel features an Avalon 2055 Mastering EQ and 2044 Stereo Compressor. The Tube Channel features the Manley Massive Passive EQ and Variable-Mu Limiter / Compressor. This Manley compressor EQ combination has long been the choice of mastering engineers around the world. Both channels feature the award winning Antelope Analog to Digital converters.

With the re-emergence and popularity of vinyl releases, Heading North Mastering has taken it upon themselves to cater to artists looking to release their music on vinyl. We specialize in creating truly authentic sounding vinyl.

Mastering for vinyl is a unique process that is very different from mastering for CD or digital release. It requires a cutting lathe that, in real-time, physically creates grooves in a lacquer disc. Vinyl lathes along with the people who truly know how to use them have become rare. It is a process that takes years of experience and expertise to perfect. So to help us give you the best possible sounding vinyl, Heading North Mastering exclusively uses the services of engineer Jeff Powell at Sam Phillips Recording/Take Out Vinyl in Memphis, TN to cut our lacquers. Jeff Powell has been in the business for 30 years and has worked with some of the greatest artists of our era including Bob Dylan, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Big Star.

The engineer at Heading North Mastering will prepare a digital pre-master that is ready for transfer to the lacquer. Then we work closely with Jeff as he cuts the lacquer. If any problems are encountered in the process we can quickly re-master. This close working relationship ensures that your vinyl records come out sounding as good as possible.

When you come to Heading North Mastering for vinyl we will take care of everything you need to end up with a great sounding vinyl lacquer that is ready for manufacturing. With our expertise and Jeff Powell as our vinyl cutter we streamline the process and save you the headache of dealing with unknowns.
